Ford Uses ABB Integrated Force Control Software

posted February 13, 2014
We previously discussed ABB’s new robotics software, Integrated Force Control. Now it is being reported by Design News that Ford Motor Company in partnership with ABB has developed robots that have “real-time tactile feedback for delicate assembly and machining.” Using the Integrated Force Control software, these assembly robots at Ford are able to interact with parts with the same sensitivity that a human hand would. In addition, according to Design News, “the robot can also mimic motions of a human arm to find the correct position to assemble a part.”
